Das iPad kommt. Wie der Keynote von Steve Jobs zu entnehmen war richtet sich das iPad primär an Konsumenten. Doch ließe sich das iPad auch im Unternehmenskontext einsetzen?
Betrachtet man Anwendungen für das iPhone wie Citrix Receiver, so kommt man schnell zu dem Schluss, dass das iPad durchaus – und vermutlich sogar direkt ab Launch des Gerätes – im Unternehmenskontext zum Einsatz kommen könnte.
Citrix arbeitet aktuell bereits an einer Adaption seiner Software für das iPad und stößt so die Tür für Unternehmensanwendungen auf dem iPad weit auf. So ermöglicht die Software es bereits heute bestehende Anwendungen von nahezu beliebigen Plattformen auf das iPhone zu streamen und dort zu nutzen.

Adobe’s Flash Technologie gerät zunehmend unter Druck. Apple weigert sich Flash auf iPod und auch auf dem neuen iPad zu unterstützen, Steve Jobs nennt es sogar “Buggy” und sieht es als Auslöser für Systemabstürze (Quelle) und Online Video Größen wie YouTube schwenken langsam aber sicher auf HTML 5 basierte Videos um.

Adobe’s Flash Technologie gerät zunehmend unter Druck. Apple weigert sich Flash auf iPod und auch auf dem neuen iPad zu unterstützen, Steve Jobs nennt es sogar “Buggy” und sieht es als Auslöser für Systemabstürze (Quelle) und Online Video Größen wie YouTube schwenken langsam aber sicher auf HTML 5 basierte Videos um.
Laut Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch werden etwa 75% aller Videos im Internet heutzutage mit einem Flashplayer angezeigt.
Diese Zahl könnte sich aber sehr schnell ändern, nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil Google sich stark hinter die Etablierung von HTML 5 stellt und dem Thema durch die dem Unternehmen zur Verfügung stehenden Mittel und Wege (z.B. YoutTube und den eigenen Browser Chrome) einen starken Schub nach vorne verschafft.

Unlike Google’s launch of Nexus one, Apple did a wonderful job in stirring speculation about the iPad.

I can still remember the very first time I used the internet, that was in January 1998. With the assistance of an Employee at a Cyber café in Yaoundé- Cameroon, I created an email account and sent my first email! You can imagine how excited I was when I checked-in two days later to see that I already had a reply to my mail. At that time, living in a country where letters could take more than two months to get to their destinations (within the country) with the post office, my first experience with the internet was magical. I remember thinking technology must have reached its peak and nothing could ever top that experience. Only a couple of years later the internet became part and parcel of my life which I now take for granted, and I suppose there are hundreds of millions others like myself. It is amazing how fast we have easily adapted both our professional and private undertakings to the web. Nowadays, many business transactions are simply unthinkable without the internet. Each time we think the web revolution has hit its climax; we see other innovative developments that astound us before they are topped by better innovations within short intervals. Below are some popular trends I suppose are certainly going to hit the web in the coming decade.

How versed are you with the latest IT-terminologies? Do you find yourself frequently using an IT-term without really being able to explain what it is? I was just thinking how embarrassing it could if during a high level presentation in front customers you use one these commonly used IT-terminologies and you’re asked to define it and you get stock. You in fact use the term everyday and somehow know what it means but you really can’t explain it. With this in mind I tried to put together and define some frequently used IT-jargons.
1. Apps: App is the short of an application and generally refers to a computer program that helps users to perform specific tasks. Generally apps are often a self-contained environment for performing some well-defined task. This term however is mostly used to refer to application software on mobile devices. It became popular after Apple opened its appstore in which developers could develop and market applications for the iPhone. Microsoft and Google have also followed the lead with their mobile devices.
